Stratton Island Supervisor John Gorey rows supplies ashore in a rubber dinghy. Researchers and interns live and work on the island during the field season. This 24-acre island is the centerpiece of the Phineas W. Sprague Memorial Sanctuary, which is owned and run by the National Audubon Society. Stratton Island is located in Saco Bay, 3 miles east of Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
